May’s Recommended Meal is a selection of vegetarian dishes. Whether you’re a vegetarian or not, this is a great collection of dishes which complement each other served at Edinburgh’s Best Indian Restaurant, Britannia Spice.

Starter – Samosa

A classic Indian snack, the samosa – deep fried vegetables in a pastry shell.

Main – Vegi Panch Ratni Seekh

A heaped plate of a variety of marinated vegetables cooked in our Indian Tandoor.

Side Dish – Sabzi Bhajee

A great but light side dish of Sabzi Bhajee. Mixed vegetables cooked with our Chef’s selection of herbs and spices.

Rice – Lemon Rice

Lemon Rice to accompany our main and side dishes.

Bread – Paratha

The Paratha is our recommend bread to enjoy with our tasty vegetarian dishes.

Introducing a new regular feature at Britannia Spice, our Head Chef will be creating a special dish not available from the menu.

To begin, the first dish will be the Malabari dish – ideally cooked with Chicken or Lamb, whichever is your preference.

The Malabari dish is a speciality from Southern India in the Malabari region. Tender Chicken/Lamb is marinated with Malabari spices and a special Malabari sauce.

This special main course will be served with bread or rice for only £9.95 per person.

We ran this great special offer at the end and beginning of 2010/2011 and it was a big hit with our diners.  After much demand we’ve decided to re-introduce it until the end of June so the make the most of it while you can.

Starter – Prawn Sweet & Sour Puree

Keeping all things light in mind, our recommended meal starts of with a Prawn Sweet & Sour Puree – a delicious puffed bread encasing the very best of selected prawns, cooked in a unique blend of special spices. Our pictures do not lie, it really is a tasty treat to start of any meal at Britannia Spice.

Main – Chicken Ceylon

This is then followed on by our Main course of Chicken Ceylon. An assembly of tenderly cooked chicken pieces, fused with a wonderful array of special spices, some hot red chilli and a dash of coconut. A key and very hot traditional Sri Lankan curry.

Side Dish – Brinjal Bhajee

Enjoy your main meal with a more delicate side dish of Brinjal Bhajee. The eggplant, or widely known Aubergine is cubed and pan fried. Then mixed with onions, tomatoes and spices to create an infusion to reawaken your tastebuds.

Rice – Pilau Rice

Enjoy all of the above with Britannia Spice’s flavoursome and popular Pilau Rice and choicest Garlic Nan.

Bread – Garlic Nan

Curry has long been a favourite of the rugby fraternity with many a game being dissected over a hearty Indian meal and a few pints of lager. Although this season’s Six Nations is now over – this union is continuing with Scotland’s ever popular SCRUM magazine (the Scottish Club Rugby Union Magazine) taking the opportunity to celebrate our restaurant this month.
