Welcome to our wine list, which we hope you will take a few moments to peruse, to find that perfect accompaniment to the meal you are about to enjoy.
For hundreds of years, since Roman times wine has been shipped into the historic Port of Leith and we are proud to be able offer you our carefully selected list in keeping with that tradition. Obviously we have sought the advice and counsel of two of the leading suppliers in Scotland and this list should be considered as our latest updated one.
Everyone has a personal preference in wine, and for this reason we hesitate to make firm suggestions others than to list what we are the major characteristics for each.
We have tried to assemble a selection that offers a full range of styles and prices from around the globe, from the long established names of the old world - to the newly respected and exceptional wines in their own unique way.
It is our earnest intention that the list will change as stocks inevitable run out and new exciting stocks become available and we will be holding special 'Gourmet' evenings when new dishes and new wines are introduced in our relaxing and enjoyable surroundings.
We hope you will make a selection form the list, from ancient times wine was always viewed as health promoting and there is no better a way to accompany fine food or to celebrate that 'special' occasion.

3. GENERAL BILIMORIA RED ... £12.95
The red is a Merlot, a rich, vibrant, full aromatic wine. Soft and plumy flavours with jammy fruit and underlying tannins, finely balanced with oak delivering an enjoyable rich wine.
4. GENERAL BILIMORIA WHITE ... £12.95
The white is a Turret-Sauvignon blended with the Turret, providing the smooth, rich peachy base while the Sauvignon adds herbaceous aromas and a citrus fruit lift to the finish.

Intense bouquet, with good concentration of fruits on the palate. Round and soft finish.
6. CROZES HERMITAGE 'Les Launes' Delas Freres, Rhone ... £23.50
The appellation of Crozes Hermitage is the largest in the northern Rhone Valley. The region consists of primarily Syrah grapes that are aromatic, rich and full-bodied.

Medium dry and easy to drink, fruity with a floral scent, and enough body to enhance the flavours.

Very elegant wine with an attractive finish, pronounced mineral accents and a lemony zip. Round, slightly honeyed, full and structured with a great finesse.

This example is one of the finest we have seen, full bodied with the strength of taste and character so typical of the best Riojas.
12. NAVARRA, GRAN FEUDO CRIANZA Bodegas Julian Chivite ... £15.50
A Crianza wine made from Tempranillo. Aged in oak barrels, with further aging in bottle. This brings out the full fruit characteristics of the Tempranillo grape, with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon to complete its structure.

Aromas of wild berries and spices mixed with earthly mineral notes. The wine is full bodied with soft tannins balancing acidity and long finish.

16. COVER DRIVE CABERNET SAUVIGNON Coonawarra and Clare Valley, Jim Barry ... £21.50
Cleverly they have combined the leaner more herbaceous aspects of Coonawarra Cabernet with the richer, softer flavours from Clare. The result? Simply delicious.
17. BAROSSA VALLEY SHIRAZ/VIOGNIER ... £21.50
Made from Barossa Shiraz grown on fifty years old vines. Spicy wine with a concentrated flavours of sweet berry fruit.

This wine displays a rich and complex nose of melded lime fruit and vanilla, weet French oak and cashew nuttiness. It has excellent length with lingering texture. Enjoy with creamy sauced dishes.
