Recommended Meals – October

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

This October here at the Britannia Spice Indian Restaurant we have been thinking of a meal to prepare you for the impending winter. The greatest curry minds we have in our Edinburgh restaurant have been working overtime to give you something warm and keep you going in the cold weather.

The menu is a mixture of some of the fantastic Indian dishes on our menu, as well as a couple of subtle tweaks that you can ask for on the evening; we’ll be delighted to oblige.

Starter – Murgh Chandi Tikka

What could be a better start to an evening of curry delights than cubed chicken that has been marinated to perfection before being roasted and enveloped in a mouth watering sauce?

Main – Ginger Murgh or Ginger Lamb

What could be better on a cold winter evening than your favourite meat in a sauce with the taste of lovely fiery ginger? Whether your preference is tender lamb or perfectly cooked chicken this extremely popular main dish is the main course for you.

Side – Bhindi Bhaji

Beautiful ladies fingers (or okra if you prefer!) in a slightly spiced sauce with a mixture of herbs and spices that is a proud secret of the Britannia Spice kitchen.

Rice – Saffron Rice

Time to start ordering dishes that aren’t on the menu. The king of spices gives our fluffy rice a beautiful rich colour and taste.

Bread – Onion Nan

Is there anything better than buttery onions cooked to perfection? We can think of one thing, when they are covered with our beautiful nan bread.

Here at the Britannia Spice Indian Restaurant, we know that with so much on offer on the menu how difficult it can be to choose a perfect meal. Each month we’ll suggest some menus that we think will let you taste some of the best we have on offer.

This month’s menu is a chicken feast – and we’ve gone with a dish from the main menu for a starter – just ask your waiter.

Starter – Badami Murgh Tikka

Britannia Spice - Badami Murgh Tikka

For starters – Badami Murgh Tikka – named after a beautiful district of India is chicken marinated with yoghurt, the smooth taste of almond as well as a selection of spices before being cooked to perfection in the tandoor. A beautiful rich flavour to start any meal.

Main Course – Ginger Murgh

Britannia Spice - Ginger Murgh

For your main course, we recommend the Ginger Murgh with a side dish of Aloo Gobi, some lemon rice and a garlic naan.

Britannia Spice - Aloo Gobi

Beautiful citrusy basmati rice, lovely buttery garlicky fluffy naan and the classic potato and cauliflower dish of aloo gobi are the perfect accompaniment to the Ginger Murgh. The Murgh is choice cuts of tender chicken marinades and cooked in the tandoor. It is wrapped in a spicy gingery sauce giving it a lovely warm flavour and garnished with the sharpness of fresh coriander.

Britannia Spice - Lemon Rice

All in all a perfect menu – and a meal that we are confident that you will enjoy.
